The Firm

Studio Isolabella was founded by Lodovico Isolabella at the beginning of the 1960’s and operates exclusively in the field of criminal law, with particular focus on corporate criminal law.

The specialisation in the corporate world, both at a national and international level, started with Lodovico Isolabella’s assignments in some of the first cases of Corporate, Financial, Tax, Bankruptcy and Environmental criminal cases that occurred in Italy in that period: from the collapse of the Voltri bridge, to pollution problems for industrial and oil plants such as the Codelfa plants, to transnational taxation and currency issues for banks such as Banca del Gottardo, to the defence of journalists and newspapers such as Avvenire, to the winning defence of Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia from the accusation of having shot someone on the island of Cavallo, to the bankruptcy of Banca Privata del Veneto first and Banco Ambrosiano later, and on to the “Mani Pulite” (clean hands) period of the first half of the 90’s (with the defence of pharmaceutical multinationals such as Bayer, SmithKline Beecham, Sandoz, Ciba Geigy; or advertising firms such as Young & Rubicam).

Specialisation in this branch of Criminal Law was strengthened and now continues with Luigi and Francesco Isolabella and with the Firm’s lawyers, all of whom trained at the Firm and accustomed right from the start to manage and handle the various criminal issues that characterise the corporate world. Not only in the typical fields of Corporate, Financial, Bankruptcy and “231” Liability law in general, but also further multifaceted manifestations of criminal liability for companies operating in different sectors (Banks, Funds, Industrial Companies, Hospitals, Public Bodies): for malicious or negligent crimes; for dynamics connected with the organisation, with compliance or internal investigations; for the management of complex cross-border transactions.

The skills and characteristics of the Firm therefore originate from a long and qualified experience gained on the field, and are manifested at the preventive, consultancy and investigation stages as much as in Court.

The most relevant aspect of this experience however, is the fact it has been shaped on the basis of the values infused on a daily basis by the Founder, which could be summarised in a statement that Lodovico Isolabella never ceases to make: “The Client is our flag”. This stands to represent the independence of the professional consultant and their loyalty to the client, against any form of conflict and compromise.
